The POW-MIA Freedom Car is a joint effort between Team Johnson Motorsports, the Freedom Car drivers, and MyComputerCareer. By reaching an audience of more than 75 million motorsports fans across the country, we hope to, not only raise awareness but also educate the people of our great nation about those service members of the United States military who have either been Prisoners of War (POW) or are Missing in Action (MIA).
Since World War II, the United States has had over 130,000 servicemen, and women held prisoner while another 87,800 officially listed as Missing in Action. Through the POW-MIA Freedom Car, we hope that their suffering and ultimate sacrifice will not be forgotten by all future generations who are reaping the benefits of what our brave military men and women had to go through.
By making use on all the public events, racing mediums, and with the aid of sponsors and veteran supporters, we want to keep the topic of POW-MIA at the forefront of all our fellow Americans.
About Team Johnson Motorsports
Team Johnson Motorsports locates in Mooresville, North Carolina. It is the proud owner of the NASCAR #76 POW-MIA Freedom Cars. The owner of the team is Jack Johnson, a veteran, himself, and proud to take part in this program. With over 40 years of racing experience, Jack Johnson has been incremental in raising awareness about veterans in the racing community. Together with the American Legion, Johnson put together the Freedom Car campaign back in 2010.
Jack Johnson’s son Jerick is the team manager, as well as one of the main drivers of the car. At age 38, Jerick has numerous wins and pole awards under his belt. He’s earned over 20 top ten finishes over the past two seasons, in 2011, and finished 3rd in the World Series of SC Racing.
He is also a two-time track Champion, winning the SA National Late Models Series “Rookie of the Year” honors in 2009. Also, Jerick Johnson qualified and competed in the NASCAR Nationwide and Truck Series, as well as being one of the 43 drivers to compete in Inaugural Canada Busch Race. And while competing in a limited ARCA series schedule, he finished runner-up for Hard Charger of the Year.
