Military Makeover and MyCC

Military Makeover and MyComputerCareer are Helping Veterans Across the U.S.

MyComputerCareer has always aimed to give back to the community. It is etched in our company culture. That’s one of the reasons we contribute so much of our time and energy in projects that help people across the United States. And nowhere is this more apparent than in our efforts to improve the lives of veterans and their families.

Apart from our professional courses, we take part in many charitable activities and collaborate with many nonprofits. One such organization is the Military Makeover.

Military Makeover is a home improvement series that aims to rebuild the homes and lives of the brave women and men who served for our country and their families, as a way to give tribute to their sacrifice. Over the past year, we have collaborated on several projects and together rebuilt the homes of three veteran’s families to date.

As the program continues into the fourth project, it’s worth taking a look at our involvement and what we aim to achieve.

About Military Makeover

Military Makeover aims to support our nation’s veterans by creating a roof over their heads once they return to civilian life. Through their projects, they wish to transform the homes and lives of veterans’ families across the country and thus raise awareness about the hardships that former members of the armed forces face once they return home.

The idea behind Military Makeover is the brainchild of talk show legend and military advocate Montel Williams. Following the end of his military career, he has devoted his life to helping veterans and their loved ones, and describes his role in the organization as one of the highlights in his overall career:

“In the nearly three decades since I retired from the Navy, I’ve never really taken the uniform off because standing up for those who are serving now and those who have served has been the greatest honor of my professional career.”

MyComputerCareer’s Involvement in the Project

MyComputerCareer is proud to work side-by-side with Military Makeover. Since their organization relies solely on outside donations and support, we have been honored to take part in their projects of rebuilding the homes and lives of former military personnel.

So, far we have participated in sponsoring three families, which you can read about on our blog, while the most recent project will air on Military Makeover at the end of November. At the start of the new year, our staff will work on the fourth project which aims to help a new family from Tampa, Florida.

As educators, we feel we must raise awareness about the problems that veterans and their families face in day-to-day life. Through our involvement in projects like Military Makeover, we aim to give back as much as we can to the brave people who serve our country. But that’s only the tip of the iceberg.

We also offer IT training programs for veterans around the year. This program aims to help veterans enter the workforce, and create successful careers in Information Technology.
