Richard had been working long hours at a dead-end, seasonal warehouse job when finally, he’d had enough. He begged his boss not to cut his hours when business slowed down again, realizing job security and work-life balance mattered most to him and his family. 

His father suggested going back to school for IT, enrolling at MyComputerCareer to launch his career forward quickly. He agreed, and the move paid off. 

Richard now works as a Field Technician at a Network Operations Center. He landed the job while still enrolled at MyComputerCareer. 

Richard now has more time to spend with his young son and family, and sleeps better at night knowing he won’t have to wake up physically strained from the hard manual labor of working in a warehouse. His long-term goal is to gain more experience in IT and move up the ladder into Cybersecurity, working alongside his uncle.

As a disabled Navy veteran who bounced in and out of jobs for years, William often felt discouraged. Most civilian roles disappointed him. They either didn’t meet his needs or expectations, or offered little in terms of work satisfaction and job fulfillment. William knew he had a knack for computers having worked on communication and RADAR equipment in the Navy. He wasn’t expert-level by any means, but with the support and training of MyComputerCareer, William became a pro earning NINE CERTIFICATIONS IN SEVEN MONTHS! William now works as a Foreign Service Security Technical Specialist for the federal government. He credits Career Services for giving him the confidence to succeed and the opportunity to showcase his growth.

When he lost his job in 2020 amid the COVID-19 pandemic, Career Services quickly found him another opportunity as an IT Support Specialist for Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools where he oversees device inventory for the entire school district.

Collin started working in HVAC after 23 years in the military. The hard labor exacerbated injuries from tours in Iraq and Afghanistan. Collin transferred to MyComputerCareer after realizing employers value certifications and he wouldn’t earn them at the university.

Prior to MyComputerCareer, Vanesia worked in logistics. She had a B.A. in Business with a concentration in Computer Information Systems. It wasn’t enough, however. Despite reservations of balancing work and school, along with the trepidation of taking classes online, Vanesia moved full steam ahead with a clear focus, determination and vision of what she wanted her future to look like. These credentials led to her employment at GretNeck Saw where she now works as a Netsuite Administrator.
