Overwhelmed Much?

Don’t we all feel overwhelmed at times? There are so many things pulling us in different directions in our lives from school, to work, family, among many other things. Feeling overwhelmed directly has an affect on how we feel and often times when we feel overwhelmed, we feel stressed. I am the Assistant Campus Director on the Houston Campus, I am a working mother and a wife. I know the feeling of being overwhelmed and the feeling of stress just like you do.

I work with students every day. I am passionate about helping others reach their goals and obtain life change, whether that is one of my students or it is an employee on our team. Working with students, I am faced daily with helping them overcome obstacles and reminding them of why they started this new career path so that they can complete their IT certifications, graduate and reap the rewards of their hard work.

However, in the midst of students feeling overwhelmed, it becomes easy for them to lose focus on why they started school in first place. All these things seem to be out of balance and it can feel like you can’t catch a break even long enough to come up for air.

St Jerome once said, “Good, better, best. Never let it rest. ‘Til your good is better and your better is your best.” Isn’t this a phenomenal motivation and reminder? Sometimes it’s important to take a deep breath and just focus on what is right in front of you. Your life may have been GOOD when you started here at MyComputerCareer. Or maybe it wasn’t so GOOD and that’s why you made the decision to change your life and take the steps necessary to gain the education and training you needed to make your life BETTER. But life is always going throw you a curve ball. It is about how you decide to throw that ball back at life that really matters.

You are here today and now to keep pushing through the trenches. Working hard, studying hard, taking hard tests. All of this to make your BETTER life. After working with thousands of students, I want to leave you with a few pieces of advice.

  1. Don’t Give Up. Keep on fighting. The answer will always be no if you don’t ask for what you need. You never know the Yes’ that could be waiting ahead of you.
  2. Ask for help if you are struggling, so that you can throw a fast ball right back at life and say, “Not this time. This time, I am working this hard for me. I am living to reach my goals and dreams. I was at GOOD when I started, now I am BETTER, and my BETTER is leading me to my absolute BEST in the near future, and nothing is going to stop me from getting what I started out to do!”
  3.  Remember that you’ve got this! We’ve got you! Keep pushing till you get that home-run!
