Instructor Spotlight - Ray Downing

Every week I thoroughly enjoy delivering IT knowledge and IT education to hundreds of students in the Information Technology field and have now for almost 20 years. I can easily recall a time when I decided not to paint for the rest of my life and live under the banner of uncertainty of income and a world of either feast or famine. IT was my answer! I slowly finished my degree and entered the IT field with one certification, CompTIA A+.

This began my career of wanting to help instruct others to understand computer technology that sometimes seems to be so far out there!!! I wanted to make a difference so those that felt a little behind the eight ball of understanding could experience some real-life examples and scenarios that tie it all together to make it feel as if they watched a premiere movie! Learning should be fun and exciting, and I try my best to keep laughter realism and expectations in academics a priority!

I see each student, with the potential of being an IT Admin, the next security expert! Even now as I type, I just received an email from a former graduate that has landed his dream job! Working for Cisco! Thought he couldn’t, now he is living it! That’s why I teach, to see other dreams come true! To play a part in molding the next IT generation! Words and phrases and high caliber technology in action implemented throughout the infrastructure of our nation carrying knowledge and getting paid for it!!

Just to think, I had the privilege to be a part of it!
