Hi everyone, my name is Kwame Askew, and I’m 23 years old.
I began my journey with MyComputerCareer on July 1, 2024. It’s been a tough road—one that demanded a lot of sacrifice and commitment—but standing here today, I can say it was all worth it.
When I first received the call to join the program, I was terrified. I remember hearing the cost and feeling like my heart sank faster than a ship hitting an iceberg (too soon? Sorry about that). But even with that fear, I saw a glimmer of hope—a potential way out of my current situation.
Living in a small, quiet area with limited opportunities, I knew I needed to take a chance, even though I didn’t know the first thing about IT. Little did I realize, this journey would open so many doors for me. All it took was my willingness to commit and take that first step.
I’ve been amazed by the incredible people I’ve met here at MyCC. Everyone has been so supportive and welcoming, and their kindness has been nothing short of inspiring. My only regret is not getting to know all of you better.
To my Lead Instructors:
- Mr. Andrew Collins – You have the coolest beard in existence. Period. No arguments! Thank you for teaching me CompTIA 1101 and 1102 and for making it such an engaging experience. I learned so much from you. You built the foundation I could stand on.
- Mr. Terrance Robinson – The Lord of the Sith himself, who shared some IT “special combos” with me. And of course… Devante! Ohhhh yeahhh! Thank you for teaching me Microsoft Azure Fundamentals, AI Fundamentals, and Linux Essentials—you made these challenging topics manageable and fun.
- Mr. Jim Atria – You brought music into the world of Networking and Security. Learning with you was always a vibe!
To my Instructors:
- Mr. Samuel Gugiotta – You were instrumental in helping me find my footing in IT. Thank you for awakening my eyes to this field!
- Mrs. Dorothy Ritter – Your kindness and dedication were inspiring. I may have never won that virtual blueberry pie, but one day… one day!
- Mrs. Kimberly Smith – Kim! Kim! Kim! (Yes, your name deserves a whole song!) Your love for dolphins and your hardworking nature were just as awesome as you are.
To other incredible instructors who left a mark:
- Mr. Anthony Bridle – Your disappearing cats and memes made learning so much fun!
- Mrs. Thereasa Demarco – Thank you for guiding me during bootcamp and helping me craft my first resume.
- Mr. Anthony Queen – “Ahhhhhhh…” (You’ll remember that, right?). Thanks for making the Microsoft AI and Security bootcamps memorable!
- Mr. Gonzalo Regalado – Your extra notes for Microsoft Azure Fundamentals made all the difference. And those rhymes? Legendary!
- Mr. Christopher Reid – My first bootcamp was with you and it set the tone for this journey. Thank you for being a part of it.
- Mrs. Tiffany Mack – Though it was only for a day, I’m so glad I got to meet you.
- Mr. Ben Conover– Thank you for stepping in during my 1101 class. Your support was truly appreciated!
Thank you to everyone I met in the Flex Room over the months. I may not remember all your names, but I won’t forget your kindness and the impact you had on my journey.
Special thanks to:
- Mr. Brian Tracy – Your encouragement kept my morale up even during the hardest days. Thank you for sticking with us!
- Mrs. Alexandria Pierce – Thank you for helping me take steps toward finding an IT job, even though living in the middle of nowhere makes it challenging. Your support means more than words can say.
- Mr. Bradley Brown – Without you, I wouldn’t have started this journey. You believed in me and encouraged me to go beyond what I thought was possible. Thank you with all my heart.
- Mrs. Toni Bond – Though we only met momentarily, thank you for talking with me and having patience with me when I was trying to take a photo. I hope my quote does end up inspiring others to come to MyComputerCareer and take a chance like I have.
To MyComputerCareer: Thank you for being such a transformative chapter in my life. This may be the end of this chapter, but a new one awaits, and I’m excited to see what’s next. Thank you all for impacting my life in such a positive way. MyComputerCareer is truly life changing.
To those scared to take a chance, don’t let this be the end of your journey, always keep learning whether it’s in IT or something else all together. Don’t let your dreams die out, I believe in you and there will always be a way out of that darkness. The question here is are you willing to fight for it? Are you willing to go the extra mile it takes? Do it and you won’t have regrets. It can only become a regret if you didn’t give it everything you had so do it. I believe in you truly.
One last thing before I go… I LOVEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE ITTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT!!!!!
