Amy Onuska discusses 2025 successes and MyComputerCareer plans

We kicked off broadcasts from MyComputerCareer’s new studio in the best way possible…sitting down with CEO Amy Onuska to talk about what happened in 2025 and where we’re heading this year. The conversation on “Get Into IT Live” covered everything from graduation numbers to the reality of career change, and Amy didn’t hold back.

The Numbers That Matter

MyComputerCareer graduated 4,438 students in 2025, up from 3,994 the year before. Students earned 6,740 certifications. But Amy was quick to point out what those numbers actually represent.

“When I think about the numbers, what I think about is the impact that we’re having in individual lives,” she said. “And that is an understatement, right? It’s about the impact that we are able to have in helping the student which then helps their family which ultimately could even impact their community.”

She also addressed something people say all the time: “I can just go online and get these certifications myself.” Her response? “What’s been stopping you?” The reality is it’s hard. It takes commitment, investment, and study. MyComputerCareer provides not just education but accountability, which is exactly what keeps people moving forward when things get tough.

Why Career Services Changes Everything

The career services team helped students and grads submit nearly 11,000 resumes in 2025. But as Amy explained, their real job goes way deeper than that.

“Career services is actually what we’re here to do,” she said. “Education alone is not enough to have the life change and impact we expect to have on our students.”

She also got personal about the fear that stops people from making career moves. “Changing careers is terrifying,” Amy shared, reflecting on her own jump from restaurant management to MyComputerCareer years ago. “Fear has a way of preventing people from really achieving what they set out to achieve.”

That’s why career services starts working with students in week two of the program, not after graduation. Students learn about IT and learn how to get an IT job at the exact same time.

Looking Ahead to 2026

Amy’s bringing more AI and cloud training into every classroom. Students are already landing jobs specifically because of the AI skills they’re learning. She’s also working on what she calls an “ecosystem” approach, finding ways for MyComputerCareer, TechSkills (the recently rebranded short course division), and sister company CIBR Warriors (recruiting division) to work together more effectively.

The digital transformation initiative she launched when she stepped into the CEO role is ramping up. “How can we continue to help them around the clock?” Amy asked, talking about meeting students wherever they are in their journey.

When asked about her hopes for students this year, Amy’s answer was direct: “If you know that you need to make a change, please make 2026 the year that you take the leap in spite of all the challenges that you know you might face.”

The Bottom Line

After eight months as CEO, Amy used one word to describe the transition: grateful. Grateful for the team, grateful for the students, grateful for the opportunity to keep pushing MyComputerCareer toward what she calls “excellence.” And if there’s one thing that came through clearly in this conversation, it’s that the team isn’t satisfied with good enough.
